Do you ever feel like......

you've really gotten a lot accomplished that day? Usually not, but sometimes I do. If I have a lot to do one of two things happens. Either I sit there overwhelmed going over and over what I have to do and trying to figure out how to get out of it. Or..... I go on energizer bunny mode and I just keep on keeping on all day and get several things done.

Well, I am convinced that Mom's are always so tired because we have so many things on our mind. Everyplace people need to be, every bill that needs paid, every room that needs cleaned, every thing that needs fixed, every project that needs to be done, everything that might happen in the future, we're crazy, I get it. So the other day I really needed to clean my house because I was having a stamp thing here the next day. Well, if there is one thing I don't like to do it is to do something that I have to do. So out come all of the projects, because I will do ANYTHING to keep me from what I HAVE to do.

  1. I hung blinds in the loft (which have been sitting here for a year)
  2. I hung up the curtain tie backs in the loft (which have been sitting here for 2 years)
  3. Filled the water softener with salt (it's been beeping at me for 2 weeks)
  4. I finished painting Ashley's room and hung up all of the cute flowers (a year at least)
  5. I spray painted her furniture to match her new room
  6. I recovered her chairs to match her new spray painted furniture, and fixed the broken chair.
  7. I replaced electric sockets and light switches that had cracked
  8. I fixed the ceiling fan canopy in the Loft
  9. Touched up the spot on the staircase where Tyler sent a truck down the stairs.
  10. I repainted a wall in the family room after I took the Bendaroos off and it chipped off the paint.
  11. I put together Tyler's bed frame (which I have PROMISED to do tomorrow at least 12 times)
and then when all of that was done I of course had to clean the house, because come on, that is what I really HAD to do.

So I rolled into bed MUCH too late. But..... with a sense of accomplishment that so many "projects" had been crossed off of my list. And then 5 minutes later..................................

OK tomorrow I need to:

  1. Touch up paint the upstairs

  2. Hang up the pictures in the hall (that's been sitting in my room for 6 months)

  3. Put up some new towel rings where the kids can actually reach them

  4. Replace my bathroom fan

  5. Install the lock on the sliding door

  6. Do some laundry

  7. Clean my room

  8. Fill water barrels

  9. Blog about all of this fun (if I could only find my camera card reader!)

  10. ....

  11. ....

  12. ....

  13. ....

  14. Get some sleep?

You are AMAZING. You got so much done. I have days just like that. Most of the time I can find other things to distract me from what I need to do. Good job Wendy!

We must be related. In high school if I had a big project due I, first of all, put it off till the day before and then that day or weekend or whatever I would wash my car and sort through things and do almost anything but my project. I still do that sometimes. I also go on project crazy days where I just do and do and do. I guess I have to be in the mood.

You are too cute! I'm proud of you for doing all that! I think I would have thought about it and just crawled back in bed feeling too overwhelmed to do anything. Your house must look great!

I only have one thing to say....."DO YOU HIRE OUT???"??? Seriously....I can't believe you did all that! I don't do that much in a year, let alone a day! A Day??? No way!

I think it's amazing how all these little projects can sit around undone for so long, but then when you finally do them, you realize they weren't as bad as you were imagining (well, usually). That happened to us when we were fixing up the house for sale. We got several projects done in just a few hours, and it was like, "That was easy... why did we avoid it so long?" Good work.
