It's all in the name

OK, so because it's on my mind, my 1st post will have to ask the question: How do you write a plural Jones? Is is The Jones' or The Joneses, or The Jones's, or the Joness? I can never figure it out and it all looks wrong to me. I always give up when signing a card and just write "The Jones Family". But for my blog I was trying to stick with the keeping up with the Jones' theme? So we're just pretending that I chose the right one. But if anyone knows better, please correct me.

heck if I know, but I like the way you have it in you picture! If you dont know after having all those years to ponder the predicament then I bet no one would notice if it were wrong. maybe?

HA! Its Jones'. I thought my last name would have that same problem too but mine sounds more like its plural than yours does for some reason, I think I have to put the apostrophe on the end of mine too....I think. Rogers'...Rogers's? Hmm, now Im starting to wonder....do you even need the apostrophe for a last name? DANG YOU!

I believe it to be the Joneses. This is why:

Jones's would be used in stating ownership of something (e.g. The Jones's dog).

I can't say however that Jones' is not correct, but to me it doesn't put the "es" in "Jones es". If you know what I mean.

Sounds like a question for Stacey to answer, since she's the English authority. But then you could ask dad, he would certainly have an answer. The question is, would you come away with an answer or just more questions.

That's what I've got.

ok, that comment was obviously from Ben b/c you know I'm not that smart and can't say big words. You're so funny, you crack me up. I love the name of your blog and I'm so excited you're going to blog. Yeah, I could call ya, yeah I could e-mail ya....but now I'll get to see pics with updates! I hope to see updates all the time so I can keep up with the Jones'sssssess. Such a cute, sweet family!

I think you picked the right one because I remember somewhere in the recesses of my mind that you shouldn't have two s (s'es? O_o) at the end of a word. But I suppose Joneses would fix that problem too. I have no idea.
